It is a very thin (about 0.5 mm) restoration usually made only for the side of teeth that is closer to the lips. It is most frequently applied due to cosmetic reasons, for example when the colour of a tooth is too dark, or when its shape is not nice, or when the space between two neighbouring teeth is too wide and so on. Teeth have to be prepared first, which means that a layer of approximately 0.5 mm of the outer tissues is removed from the teeth. Veneers can be prepared directly by a dentist or by a laboratory technician with the help of an impression. It is fixed to the tooth with a specific, extremely strong adhesive. It is a beautiful and aesthetic solution. It can be made of porcelain or in the case of rear teeth of other materials based on synthetic resin (Belle Glass).
